Welcome to Tucson!

It's hard to believe that it is already 2008! Let me be the first to welcome all of our students and faculty, new and returning, to CESL for another great year. If you are new to the city, check out the local events website: http://www.ci.tucson.az.us/visitor.html. Winter is a perfect time to visit the zoo, watch a baseball game, or see an opera or live theater performance. You may even have the opportunity to go skiing on Mt. Lemmon! http://www.go-arizona.com/Mount-Lemmon-Ski-Valley. Yes, it does snow less than an hour's drive from campus! Check out the link box in the upper right hand corner of this blog to learn more about CESL, Tucson's weather, $10 shows at UA Presents! and the Website of the Week, where you can practice English. Have a great semester!
Robert

Wow! After visiting Las Vegas, several kinds of distraughts are killing me such as ticket from hideously beautiful police. Well,
forget those bad things, I'm going to devote myself to focus on learning English before entering into the Pima university. Let's get started~

I have only been in Tucson for a week so far. It's my first time to any city in the west. I was shoked at first at how much it looked like Mexico to me, not that I've ever been to Mexico!!! :) Another thing that aslo shoked me about it is how "yellow" it is compared to the eastern cities of the USA that are a lot more "greener". Needless to say, It has the friendliest people I have ever met, and it's already starting to grow on me.

I am from Mexico and I have never met people from other countries but from the United States, not that I remember. Having the opportunity of meet people from different countries makes me really happy. It is a great experience for me.

After 15 hours of a tearful flight I landed on the other side of the world expecting to feel all alone and miserable, unexpectedly Tucson was welcoming and very friendly, CESL on the other hand felt like home; Instructors as well as students made it feel as if I found a new family in a brand new place. Thanks CESL =)

I went to Las Vegas during Spring Break. It was my first time to be there. Since i was young I have heard about it many times so I had a big curiousity of this city. When I got to there I was excited with all the bright lights. It was exactly as what i expected. I spent about one and half days. It was not enough time. If there will be another opportunity to go there again, i would definately go~!!

I have been to Dallas in my spring break. I met my coworkers at this place. They lives in New York and Omaha. It was the first time to visit there. We went to the 6th floor museum where president Kennedy was shot by Oswalt. It was very interesting experiense for me.

although I didn't travel for this spring vacation, I was very happy .
this is because I want to take my time for my son . I had good time for this vacation with my son. we went to zoo ,played baseball, and we took a nap togather. In fact I think that this spring vacation was one of the most importent times for me.

I went to Las Vegas with many korean friends during the spring break.
We visited many beautiful hotels like 'Wynn', 'Bellagio', 'Caesar's palace'...
We stayed there for 3days 2nights because we had to go other places which are Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon.
To Some of us it seemed to be not enough days to see most of see sights of Las Vegas because it's very huge.
It tooks 2days to just see outside of the hotels, playing jackpots and see laser show.
We couldn't see the huge show of Las Vegas like 'KA', 'O', 'Phantom of Opera' something like that.
And I couldn't even drink, go to club and play jackpot because I was under age.
The trip was funny but I'm also sorry that I couldn't enjoy the real funny things of LV."
So I want to go Las Vegas again and feel the real Las Vegas!!

I went to LA for spring break with my girlfriend and her friends. LA was good there is Disnyland, hollywood and beaches. However, I couldn't enjoy sometimes although we were 3 girls and 1 guy because they were all chinese and they spoke chinese. I couldn't understand what they were saying. I just kept silent and drove a car.

I went the Hawaii with my wife and my babies while last section because my mother-in-law's has lived in there and my mother-in-law wanted to see the my babies and my wife. So, we decieded to go to Hawaii. However, It is not easy to travel. because we have a lot of baggage and we had to take care of my babies. So,its so hard to travel for us. Anyway, there are lots of various people and places in Hawaii, especailly many asian people live in there. I have been to many beautiful place such as beautiful beaches, big waves and Diamond mountian. And I have eaten delicious food: Shushi seafood, and traditional food. So, I love there, I want to go the Hawaii again.

I have been to LA for the spring break with five friends. We drove two cars to there. We went to universal studios, Disney land and China town. The universal studios was amazing. When I stood in there I was felt like I were in the movie.
When we arrived santa monica, one of my friend bought a car there. It was a used Audi A6. It's really a nice car. I think this is the most excting thing in this trip.

Tucson is a lovely city for a family to live . The weather is very nice.I don't like winter but Tucson has a waorm winter compared to that of Chicago I experienced when I arrived in the US. Tucson citizens great to each other in the road when they meet. I really like the drivers, they care for pedestrians and follow driving rules. The pedestrians also wait before they cross the road.

My first time in Tuscon, I was very surprised about people's friendliness. When I came here, I could't speak English, but they did their best to understand and help me about my problems. However, the weather shocked me because I thought it's cold in the USA; it was too hot! Special at CESL, we do many activities that I never did in my country. You are free to enjoy your life.

I heard a lot about Tucson before I came here. I have many friends who live in Tucson. Also my best friend studies at UA. I thought Tucson would have the same weather like my country, Saudi Arabia. I'm here since January 2008, and I love it. I feel I've lived here many years and I never feel homesick!
